Accident reportingTo know the type of accidents and the cause of the accidents is the first step to improve the safety for fishermen. This could be done through the implementation of accidents at sea reporting system and database. Very often available data in countries are not complete or data could be structured in a confusing way. It is important to understand the difference between the consequence and the cause of accident. The accident reporting system is part of the safety at sea management cycle and will feed back information to governments and to training institutes to be able to design the training and awareness activities. Safety at sea management cycles have been developed by various organisations. ILO Publications
